Gain the skills you need to teach adults in a post-compulsory educational setting with UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching.
This adult teaching qualification is ideal for individuals who facilitate in community education, teach at a polytechnic or private teaching establishment, or if you are a workplace trainer.
The programme is structured into four adult education courses allowing knowledge to be applied directly to teaching practice. Delivery is online through TANZ e-campus.
The New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching provides you with opportunity to build on your understanding of educational theory and ideas through experience with, and critical reflection of, a repertoire of strategies for use in teaching and learning, assessment and programme design.
Career & Study Outcomes
Successful graduates of the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching will have the knowledge and skills to work in adult education and facilitation, in both the community and tertiary sector.

Learner-Centred Practice (20 credits, 90 work integrated learning hours)
Study how to be an effective facilitator of learning as appropriate to your teaching context.
Teaching Approaches for Learner Success (10 credits, 50 work integrated learning hours)
Develop a range of strategies that facilitate learning for diverse learner needs.
Assessment and Moderation (15 credits, 75 work integrated learning hours)
Evaluate and improve assessment design and assessment practices within your teaching contexts.
Perspectives on Teaching and Learning (15 credits, 75 work integrated learning hours)
Reflect on and integrate your dual professional roles as educator and vocational or industry expert and respond to learner needs appropriately.
The programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and Universal College of Learning (UCOL) Trading as Universal College of Learning (UCOL) is accredited to teach it.
NCEA Level 2 (including 10 Literacy Credits at Level 1, and 10 Numeracy Credits at Level 1)
OR equivalent academic achievement,
OR on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean.
International student applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.5 (or equivalent including TOEFL).
Under 20 years of age
For international applicants under 20 years of age who do not hold NCEA, International Academic Qualifications Entry Criteria apply.
