Summary

This ICT course will provide you with essential skills for a career in the ICT industry and also provides automatic entry into UCOL’s Bachelor of ICT degree and the NZ Diploma in IT Technical Support.
In the NZ Certificate in IT Essentials you will gain foundation skills in core ICT subject areas including: database and information management, multimedia web design and development, programming, software design and development, and operating systems, hardware, and networking.
This programme has a practical, hands-on focus which enables students to demonstrate their skills and develop expertise in one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries.

Accreditation

The programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under section 249 of the Education Act 1989, and Universal College of Learning (UCOL) Trading as Universal College of Learning (UCOL) is accredited to provide it under section 250 of the Act.

Entry criteria

NCEA Level 2 OR
New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) OR
Certificate in Information Technology for Business OR
On a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean
The minimum entry requirement for international students is IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e,combining scores from more than one test is not permissible).

Under 20 years of age
For international applicants under 20 years of age who do not hold NCEA, International Academic Qualifications Entry Criteria apply.
