- IELTS test – Academic score of 6, with no band score lower than 5.5
- TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT) – Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)
- TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) – Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)
- University of Cambridge English Examinations – FCE, or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill
- NZCEL – Level 4 with the Academic endorsement
- Pearson Test of English (Academic) – PtoE (Academic) score of 50
- City & Guilds IESOL – B2 Communicator with a score of 66
- LanguageCert – C1 Expert IESOL (LRWS) with PASS
The Bachelor of Applied Management aims to produce graduates with the personal and professional skills necessary to be successful in demanding and evolving business environments, whether locally, nationally, or internationally.
The programme offers a blend of theoretical and practical learning, with an emphasis on applied knowledge and skill. High importance is placed on the development of the soft skills for management (such as communication, business writing, presentation, interpersonal, and problem solving skills), in addition to the development of specific business knowledge and skills.
Majors available for the Bachelor of Applied Management programme:
Double majors available: Project Management / Applied Management (465 credits); Event Management / Applied Marketing (450 credits)
Programme Structure: HR Management major: 360 credits total
Year One: Compulsory papers: MGT100, 101, 103, 104 & 105 (15 credits each)
Elective papers: 45 credits made up of three additional papers from the Year 1 electives list: MGT102, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114 or 115 (15 credits each)
Year Two: Compulsory papers: MGT202, 209, 215, 219 & 222 (15 credits each)
Elective papers: 45 credits made up of three additional papers from the Year 2 electives list: MGT200, 201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 216, 217, 218, 220, 221, or 223.
Year Three: Compulsory papers: MGT301, 302, 303, 309 (15 credits each) and one of: MGT310 or MGT320 (30 credits)
Elective papers: 30 credits made up of two additional papers from the Year 2 or Year 3 elective lists: MGT200, 201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 216, 217, 218, 220, 221, 223 or MGT304, 305, 306, 308, 312.
Career Opportunities: At the completion of the programme, students' will:
Human Resource Management major: In addition to the skills listed for the overall programme, graduates from the Bachelor of Applied Management with a major in Human Resource Management, will strategically analyse information relevant to human resource areas including recruiting, organisational departmental planning, performance management, and employment compliance. Graduates will employ reflective practice techniques to develop and implement appropriate human resource management organisational policies and procedures.
Educational Pathways: Further educational opportunities for graduates may include enrolling in postgraduate study, for example the SIT Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise.
Employment Pathways: Graduates will be qualified to work in a range of employment sectors, from small to medium enterprises (SMEs), through to engagement in human resource departments in larger, more complex, enterprises.
University Entrance – NCEA Level 3
Three subjects – at Level 3, made up of:
14 credits each, in three NZQA University Entrance approved subjects, and
Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of five credits in reading and five credits in writing, and
Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of specified achievement standards through a range of subjects, or package of all three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627 – all three required).
Be at least 20 years of age when the programme begins, and provide evidence of aptitude or appropriate work experience.
