The Bachelor of Applied Management aims to produce graduates with the personal and professional skills necessary to be successful in demanding and evolving business environments, whether locally, nationally, or internationally.
The programme offers a blend of theoretical and practical learning, with an emphasis on applied knowledge and skill. High importance is placed on the development of the soft skills for management (such as communication, business writing, presentation, interpersonal, and problem solving skills), in addition to the development of specific business knowledge and skills.

Year One: 120 credits
Compulsory papers: MGT100, 101, 103, 104 & 105 (15 credits each)
Elective papers: 45 credits made up of three additional papers from the Year 1 electives list: MGT102, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114 or 115 (15 credits each)
Year Two: 120 credits
Compulsory papers: MGT225, 226, 227, 228 & 229 (15 credits each)
Elective papers: 45 credits made up of three additional papers from the Year 2 elective lists: MGT200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223, 224 (15 credits each)
Year Three: 120 credits
Compulsory papers: MGT301, 302, 313, 314 (15 credits each) and one of: MGT310 or MGT320 (30 credits)
Elective papers: 30 credits made up of two additional papers from the Year 2 or Year 3 elective lists: 303, 304, 305, 306, 308, 309, 312 (15 credits each)
For students to be considered to have satisfactorily completed this programme and be eligible for the awarding of the qualification Bachelor in Applied Management, Occupational Health and Safety Management Major, they must have completed all scheduled course work requirements and assessments, successfully completed assessment requirements for all papers, and achieved a total of 360 credits as specified in the programme schedule. The timeframe for completion of this programme is ten years.
University Entrance – NCEA Level 3
Three subjects – at Level 3, made up of:
14 credits each, in three NZQA University Entrance approved subjects, and
Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of five credits in reading and five credits in writing, and
Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of specified achievement standards through a range of subjects, or package of all three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627 – all three required).
Be at least 20 years of age when the programme begins, and provide evidence of aptitude or appropriate work experience.
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools is not English, must meet the English proficiency outcomes as below:
