This engineering degree is accredited by Engineering New Zealand. It meets the Sydney Accord and prepares you for Technical Membership of Engineering New Zealand. The Building Services Engineering major in the Bachelor of Engineering Technology focuses on mechanical and electrical building services, and support systems that are key for high-quality commercial buildings.
As cities around the world expand and become more densely populated, buildings are increasingly complex. The demand for buildings with high-quality services engineered into their design has also grown. Building services engineers have substantial input into the design and development of heating, ventilation and air conditioning, ancillary systems (including multimedia and data) and building management. They could also be involved in the maintenance and repair of existing building services.
The Building Services Engineering major is designed to provide industry with skilled building service engineers for the commercial property sector.

Applicants must be 18 years old and hold a qualification equivalent to New Zealand Year 13.
At least 14 NCEA credits at level 2 or higher externally assessed in Mathematics (including Algebra, Calculus, Geometry and Trigonometry) and Physics at level 2 or above OR
Any level 3 subject from Calculus, Mathematics, Statistics. Physics at level 2 or above
Preferred New Zealand school subjects: Digital Technologies, English, Technology
English Language requirements:
Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Computer-based: Total score of 213 with a minimum essay rating of 4.0; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
