    What is it Like?

    Massey’s Master of Analytics (Health) will equip you with the technical and critical thinking skills needed to transform data into information that can be used as evidence for making policy development and business decisions within health-related industries.

    This programme has a unique focus on learning how to utilise a multi-system, multi-sector approach to answering national-level health and wellbeing questions.

    Privacy of data is a high-profile issue, especially in the health sector. Fundamental to the research work expected of MAnalyt (Health) graduates is an expectation that they understand the wider legal and ethical systems in which public health operates.

    Internationally there is clear demand for people with specific health analytics skills. This is predicted to grow.

    Employment in the general workforce in New Zealand is predicted to grow by around 2% to 2018. Those in areas related directly to health analytics (e.g., ICT management, health services management, health analysts) are projected to grow by up to 5.3% and by 7.2% in Australia.

    Master of Analytics (Health) structure

    Qualification Requirements

    Candidates for the Degree of Master of Analytics shall follow a parts-based course of study, which shall consist of courses totalling at least 180 credits, comprising:

    Part One (including 60 credits of compulsory courses and 60 credits of subject courses) and Part Two (project) as defined by the Schedule to the Qualification;

    And including:

    Any compulsory courses listed in the Schedule for the Qualification

    At least one subject

    Attending field trips, studios, workshops, tutorials, and laboratories as required.

    Entry criteria

    Applicants for the MAnalyt will meet University admission requirements as specified, and will have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor’s degree in the subject in which you intend to specialise, or equivalent, with a minimum B grade average in the highest level courses.

    English language requirements:

    IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL iBT 90 overall (min 20 in Writing); PTE Academic 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills), Cambridge English - 176 overall and all bands 169 or better.
