What is it Like?

You’ll extend your abilities to analyse international development issues, collect relevant data, and write persuasively about development issues. Your Postgraduate Diploma in International Development is also a pathway to advanced research at master’s level.

Our professors and lecturers are scholars and active researchers, but are also people with experience in development policy and practice in diverse contexts including the Pacific, Asia and Africa.

Careers

You’ll get the skills and experience to begin your career in a wide range of government, NGO, multilateral and private sector spheres including organizations such as Red Cross, World Vision, the New Zealand Aid Programme, United Nations Development Program and Caritas. Graduate careers include positions such as:

Entry criteria

Admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in International Development requires you to have a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Development Studies, or equivalent, with a minimum B- average across the 300 level courses.

You may also apply if you have a Bachelor’s degree with a B- average across the 300 level courses along with relevant field or industry experience of an appropriate kind and duration. You will need to provide you curriculum vitae outlining your experience.

English language requirements:

• IELTS score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
• TOEFL iBT score of 90 overall (min 20 in Writing)
• PTE Academic score of 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills)
• Cambridge English score of 180
